About Me

I am a husband. My wife is my rock. She grounds me like nothing else. She holds up a mirror when I need it most and supports me as no one else can. She is the foundation of our family. I am the luckiest man in the world to be married to the most amazing woman in this or any universe and I love her with every piece of my heart.

I am a father. No other role has been more challenging nor brought me such joy. I would do anything for my boys and there is nothing better than seeing them grow into perfect little beings. They are reflections of myself yet each their own unique person. I have experienced no greater love than that I have for my children.

I am an engineer. I design and develop software because I love to create, especially when it empowers people to share their creative expressions, whether that be artistic design or scientific research. I believe programming is as much an art as a science and to do it well requires a unique synchronicity of both hemispheres of the brain.

I am a scientist. I have always had a very strong natural curiosity about how the world works. Whether it be modeling Earth systems on supercomputers or digging in the mud for worms, my thirst to know more will never be quenched.

I am an artist. I write songs and play music because I love to create, especially when what I create may connect with another soul in a way that no other medium can. Like programming, songwriting is both art and science, head and heart, mind and spirit. The best songs are thoughtful and beautiful; structured, yet flowing; simple, but brilliant.

I am all of these things. I must nurture each one to be fully whole. I can only operate at maximum potential and taste all 31 flavors when all five are present in my life.

I am also more than the sum of my parts. I am a 5 bit integer, but when all of the above are satisfied, I cast to long and enjoy sailing, camping, hiking, traveling, cooking, craft beer, good food, genealogy, and many other hobbies there never seems to be enough time for.
